How I Have Aligned the "I Matter"

For a long time, I lived in an environment where my needs did not matter.

Some of the closest people abusing alcohol and creating emotional chaos taught me how to adapt, stay quiet, and carry on. I knew something wasn’t right, but I didn’t yet know how deeply this pattern would shape my adult life.

Later, chronic illness added another layer: dependence, limitations, and the constant feeling that life was happening around me, not with me.

Outwardly, I was functioning – doing very well at school and later achieving my goals.
Inside, I felt unseen, unimportant, and quietly resentful, especially when I kept giving more than I received.

Like many women, I searched for answers in books, teachings, and spiritual paths. I read obsessively. I tried to think positively. I tried to forgive. I tried to be better.

But nothing truly changed, because deep down, I was still living from the same beliefs:

  • Others matter, not me, and I have to accept this.
  • This is just how life is – I can’t change my fate.
  • My needs come second.

The real shift didn’t come from motivation or inspiration.

It came when I began to question the beliefs that kept me emotionally small, the ones that told me to tolerate, endure, and disappear.

Over time, through psychology, self-development, and inner work beyond religion, I rebuilt the way I related to myself. Not by becoming louder or harder, but by becoming internally grounded.

That inner shift changed:

  • I started making smarter decisions aboutwho I want to ionvote to my life and how to communicate with them
  • I learned what I want to accept from others
  • I learned how to value myself, quietly, but firmly

These patterns once served a purpose — but over time, they became the very reason I felt disconnected from my own sense of importance.

My work began when I stopped trying to “fix myself” and instead started testing and questioning the beliefs and inner rules that shaped how I related to myself and the world.
